Sanday School press release:

map of location Malawi in AfricaIn April 2005 five pupils from Sanday School won the 'Scottish Schools Africa Challenge'. The prize for winning was a trip to Malawi in May 2005, accompanying the Scottish First Minister, with a return visit for the Malawian children to Scotland taking place in September. The aim of the competition was to foster partnerships between Scottish and Malawian schools. Our partner school is Minga Community Day Secondary School which has about 120 pupils and is in a rural setting just outside the capital, Lilongwe. Since the Sanday pupils returned from their trip of a lifetime Sanday School has set up a fund to help foster the link between the schools. The Sanday community has been very generous in their support. Our first priority is to help with the puchase of desks and chairs for Forms 1 and 2. The British Council in Malawi has kindly agreed to administer the funds in Malawi. We look forward to furthering the links between the two schools for the benefit of pupils in both.
