Locos and Stock:-   FULL CURRENT UPDATED FACTS &  INFORMATION 2007/8   INCLUDE  SLR MISSING STOCK & ALL  RETAINED DOCUMENTED  ORDER OF EVENTS. INFORMATION GIVEN IN RESPECT AND DESIRE THAT THIS NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN TO ANY SOCIETY MEMBER REGARDLESS OF OUR OWN LOSSES.

Sanday Light Railway had at its closure two steam locomotives and two petrol locomotives. ( Two other steam locomotives ran on the line in its life. A Kerr Stuart Wren 'Amazon.' & the still missing ( 2008 ) GWR  7 1/4'' tank locomotive displayed on this site.

Steam loco Molly The two steam locomotives  illustrated here were the well proven 'Tinkerbell' class Narrow Gauge loco's used extensively throughout the UK by commercial and club railways. Both locos were built in West Yorkshire by the same well known gentleman, and  previously to purchase by SLR were running in a parkland railway in Wakefield in West Yorkshire. (UPDATE  BOTH LOCOMOTIVES  ARE NOW SADLY SOLD BY SLR  TO 'GOOD HOMES'.)

Steam loco ElenorThe first steam loco  Victoria was  a 2-4-2  enclosed cab with a radiator for running those 'Santa Specials' in the winters. The other loco  'Molly' was a 2-4-0. open cab Stirling style which was wonderful to drive. Both locos are capable of pulling up to 40 adults on large suitable railways. They are very powerful, and capable of staying in steam for long periods.

Petrol loco Eday GREEN GREMLIN.  DOCUMENTED FACTS:-   The Photo of this loco is as viewed  personally by SLR with witnesses  in South Devon  December 2005. ( Before removal  from the estate there by a third party from East Sussex.)  That 'Third Party' admitted removal with his CME these goods, held in contract to Sanday Light Railway, along with other Seven & Quarter Society members goods extending to many thousands of pounds.)  Our  locomotive, (From Ireland.) was purchased in  RETAINED BREACHED contract   by Sanday Light Railway with documents  and photographs still retained from Devon of that purchase, with specific details of sale. This locomotive was previously known as 'Green Gremlin'.  It  did not arrive at our railway and is now blatantly on that railways website in East Sussex awaiting 'rebuild.' for the very same documented jobs paid for by SLR.!!  (Even though receipted & confirmation of dispatch was given in writing and is retained by SLR.) Photo's sent to us by 7 1/4 society  members show her  after this date  taken without permission of SLR,  dismantled , her parts spread around the  woodland site at a location in East Sussex. Our own Roanoke  petrol hyd loco photographed on our homepage  WITH SERIAL NO  0403015 , Listed on our news page, and  listing still 'missing' 2008  , also found its way to  the same location in East Sussex where we understand it was sold to now an unknown party. We still have not in retained contract and each listed goods received those goods or payment in what the police  on CPS advice state is  that of a civil litigation action . It remains unresolved to our satisfaction or  documented loss. Instead that party in East Sussex attempted to 'quieten' us with  a written 'offer' of an unacceptable locomotive to go away, without  any guarantee,  'Timothy', A Tinkerbell locomotive awaiting rebuild at that same location, far below that of our documented losses,  with, in that offer  a shocking  threatening  libel statement. We most  understandably refused. (Document retained.)

Our Roanoke locomotive's current location is now not known. Ownership of this locomotive, as with all listed goods on this site unless confirmed sold, also remains in  clear documented contract our goods and outstanding  loss and dispute.  These events made significant contribution into the closure of Sanday Light Railway.) Any information would be in confidence great fully received to sandaylightrailway@hotmail.co.uk

Three new Lynton & Barnstaple air braked passenger carriages were to arrive in December 2005(UPDATE:-These too never arrived and our own two excellent Scaleway SLR carriages(Shown on our homepage.) taken by the supplier in part exchange also found their way to East Sussex although documents retained  from that party  deny  holding or selling them. **Photos taken by society members at that party's estate show clearly his own business named station in the background.! (Photos kindly sent to SLR and retained .)

The  original third party documented, attempted to sell  our  Scale way carriages on ebay. However other society members alerted us, and thankfully the  7 1/4'' society member who was bidding in Leicestershire on contact  by SLR with documentation, withdrew from bidding. We are most thankful for that 7 1/4'' society members honesty and respect to SLR.  That party then offered it appears and as those photographs show  to his associate our carriages, later photographed on his estate and advertised for sale as our Roanoke locomotive was in the pages of THE SEVEN & QUARTER SOCIETY NEWS.

DOCUMENTED & SHOCKING FACTS:-

ALL MISSING STOCK IN CONTRACT WAS 'CLAIMED' TO BE IN A CONTAINER SENT, THEN CLAIMED TO BE EITHER 'DUMPED' IN A LAY BY NEAR ABERDEEN OR LOST BY HAULERS &  OUR SHIPPING AGENTS IN Aberdeen....?!!

A container ship delayed sailing from Aberdeen to Orkney, ( Ref:- S***** L*** Shipping.) on its Saturday sailing , (After the container 'missed the Wednesday sailing.) for several hours whilst staff looked for what was in fact a container that was never sent..!

A VISIT TO THE LOCATION IN DEVON BY A SOCIETY MEMBER ON OUR BEHALF , REGRETTABLY DISCOVERED DIFFERENTLY THOSE CLAIMS OF A 'DISPATCHED  CONTAINER.'.  THAT DEVON CASTLE LOCATION PARTY, WAS THEN SERVED NOTICE AND REMOVED FROM OPERATING A BUSINESS AND RAILWAY AT THAT DEVON  ESTATE LOCATION  BY HIS LANDLORD.

HOWEVER , IT WAS NOT BEFORE REMOVAL OF SEVERAL MEMBERS GOODS FROM THAT SITE BY ANOTHER PARTY FROM EAST SUSSEX  BEFORE WE WERE ABLE TO TRAVEL DOWN FROM THE ORKNEY ISLANDS IN THE WINTER, SOME 900 MILES AND TWO FERRY'S EACH WAY.....! That other party's loss was a well known Seven & Quarter Society Trader whom we held in high regard. He was informed of the position by SLR whilst he was on business in the States. At first he did not believe his own goods valued at over £20.000.00 had been offered to us by one of the parties to dispel our own loss .(Documented evidence and photographs  that had been sent in offer to us by the offender were then sent to him.) His goods were then removed to East Sussex by that party from East Sussex until recovered by the other aggrieved member. (Society members kindly sent us photographs retained, of that locomotive in the same woodland building as our Green Gremlin albeit Green Gremlin was dismantled, in legal proof to that other esteemed society member.Thank you to those members for provifing us with those photographs.)

HIND SIGHT IS A WONDERFUL THING BUT THE SEVEN & QUARTER SOCIETY IS A SMALL, GENUINE BAND OF GENTLEMEN AND WE HAD NO REASON NOT TO TRUST THOSE TRADERS WHO ADVERTISED WITHIN THE SOCIETY NEWS, WHO TARNISH THE GOOD NAMES OF 99% OF HONORABLE TRADERS. WE WERE NOT AWARE OTHER SOCIETY MEMBERS , (EVEN RESPECTABLE MEMBER TRADERS.)WERE ALSO ON THE RECEIVING END OF SIMILAR 'CONDUCT' BY THOSE TWO INDIVIDUALS. OR  THAT THE OTHER THIRD PARTY 7 1/4'' MEMBER  WHO IS  STILL A TRADER  WITHIN THE SOCIETY , SUPPORTED THAT  THIRD PARTY  IN DEVON, BECOMING INVOLVED, 'REPRESENTING ' THAT PARTY TO US, AND REMOVING STOCK  FROM THAT LOCATION OWNED BY SLR AND OTHER MEMBERS.

IN DOING SO THAT PARTY  THEN ADVERTISED   OUR STOCK IN THE SOCIETY NEWS  MAY 2006 WITH A COPYRIGHT PHOTOGRAPH  OF A MINOR . THAT SHAMEFUL CONDUCT WAS WITHOUT EXPRESSED  PARENTAL KNOWLEDGE OR PERMISSION . IT WAS DEPLORABLE CONDUCT, AND SADLY OUR COMPLAINT TO THE  SEVEN & QUARTER SOCIETY CHAIRMAN AND EDITOR WAS BRUSHED ASIDE.  IN SPITE OF TWO WRITTEN REQUESTS, SANDAY LIGHT RAILWAY WAS FORBIDDEN , IN WRITING ,BY THE CHAIRMAN ,TO RAISE THE MATTER AT THE 2006 AGM. AT BETWS-Y-COED  .

AFTER SIXTEEN YEARS MEMBERSHIP OF THE SEVEN & QUARTER SOCIETY LTD  IN OUR OWN SELF RESPECT & DIGNITY, THE SLR HAS,  IN PROTEST, January 2008 , RESIGNED FROM THE  SEVEN & QUARTER SOCIETY UNTIL AN APOLOGY IS FORTHCOMING FROM THOSE APPOINTED TO REPRESENT ALL  MEMBERS INTERESTS.  IT REMAINS OUR BELIEF, (IN SUPPORT FROM MANY SEVEN & QUARTER SOCIETY MEMBERS.)  THAT UNDER THE CONSTITUTION OF OUR SOCIETY, EVERY MEMBER HAS THE RIGHT TO BRING MATTERS TO THE NOTICE OF THE SOCIETY AT THE AGM WHEN A FORMAL REQUEST IS MADE.(RETAINED.) IN CORRECT  MEMBERSHIP PRACTICE. THAT RIGHT WAS DENIED.  AND THAT OF PUBLICATION OF A COPYRIGHT PHOTO OF A MINOR BY A TRADER IN THE SOCIETY  NEWS WITHOUT PARENTAL OR COPYRIGHT PERMISSION HAS BEEN SHAMEFULLY AND MORALLY IGNORED REGARDLESS OF A FORMAL COMPLAINT.

WITH RESPECT WE ASK:- IN OUR  RIGHT OF FREEDOM OF SPEECH, HAS THE SOCIETY NOW  SUNK SO LOW IN MORALS AND RESPECT OF ITS MEMBERS AND  ITS OWN CONSTITUTION?

Finally in January 2006 (With  Green Gremlin & the carriages .) we were to take delivery of a  second hand contrasting two car 'Pullman Electric' train to complete our passenger stock. When finished these two cars were to re painted as advised to us and be finished in Chocolate & Cream livery with lining and named Evelyn Rose & Eleanor Briar... after our 'Granddaughters'..! (UPDATE:-This loco also did not arrive as contract although photos of her were  sent to us to quell our growing concerns at the time and that then 'Missing delivery from Devon'. It is our understanding those photos were in fact  IN WHAT MISLEAD US,of what is a 'sister' electric train named Doris at a location in East Sussex where the associates concerned shared  documented interests.)

further three  carriages were to come in January 2006 .(Six in total that never arrived.) to complement the very rare Cromar White first class carriage made in 1972 in London we owned.(Now very reluctantly sold by SLR.). We believe only six  of the Cromar White carriages were made and there are only two remaining  today one of which was here in the Orkney Islands! A ride in her is something well worth the effort of slipping inside the miniature doors. It is also rather romantic if you do so with a partner... especially with a steam locomotive pulling you!   More so if you visit the wonderful line at Comrie Railway in Perthshire this coming 7 1/4'' AGM in September if she is there. Instead we had to purchase at extra cost carriages from Scale way made to our requirements to meet  re opening commitments. Those carriages by Joe Neamith were excellent and Joe  at short notice having made them sent them to us with our beloved signal boxes from Bristol. A true gentleman and credit to the society.

Cab layout of loco SandayThis photo shows the cab view of our other petrol hyd locomotive 'Eday'  now sold and informed to us re gauged to 10"  . She is now the main locomotive on a railway  fin the southwest. (Several Seven & Quarter Society members have confirmed that indeed in further 'association' between the two parties involved, that this loco was at the East Sussex location before moving to Devon from where we purchased it. confirming the information and facts from several members .  There were other items of rolling stock scattered around the line goods wagons and tipper wagons used in permanent way work.(See photos pages.)  Rolling stock was added all the time and along with maintenance of the bogies, bodies and fittings, along with locos, track and line side features, we had plenty to do to make sure visitors had a comfortable and safe ride around the line during  their visit. |We consider this responsibility and that of constant track maintenance was why our safety record was a 100%.
