Please note: Due to unforseen circumstances the railway is only able to run a limited service. We are open daily 11.00am till 6.00. Closed Tuesday and Thursday except by prior arrangement. Please phone before you intend to travel to Sanday for the railway alone. Operation of trains is subject to weather conditions. Email or phone 01857 600700. Whilst there is no ticket charge, donations to our 'causes' are always welcome. As long as the railway meets its essential overheads all donations we receive will continue this year to be forwarded to Minga School in Malawi , Africa in association with Sanday School . If you are on the island on the days we are
closed or have a special event at home and would like to visit us subject to weather
conditions, building work and stock , we may be
able to run a limited service for you. Please phone and give as much notice
as possible first.
Please follow the 'Sanday Tourist Trail' signs and use the designated parking area. (The railway is also shown on the O.S. Landranger map No.5 Northern Isles, two miles north from the Ro Ro ferry terminal at Loth.)
We are sorry we're unable to accommodate any dogs except guide dogs for safety reasons. When we open we will be disabled friendly including toilet facilities. (Please phone first if possible for access information)
** Visiting engines are always welcome by prior arrangement with the normal safety considerations for passengers & boiler certificate requirements as set out by Southern Federation or 7 1/4" society guidelines. Loading ramps are installed directly onto our line... ( Up to Narrow gauge locomotive size.)**

be accepted for any loss, damage or injury however caused. Conditions of rides
are as displayed at stations & on the Edmondson complimentary tickets we
give to ALL our passengers. No visitors are permitted to walk along the tracks
under ANY circumstances.
